Contact the Montgomery County Crisis Center for problems dealing with the mentally ill or emotionally unstable when a response should not wait. The Center is at 1301 Piccard Drive, near the intersection with West Gude Drive. The Center and its crisis line, 240-777-4000, are always open. The Center is accessible from Ride-On bus routes 63, 45, 66, and 54.

(1) EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE RELATING TO HOUSING (OR UTILITIES)
If you are an HOC Resident, you may apply for Emergency Assistance in any one of these situations:

You have a court notice for back rent (court summons or red and white eviction sticker) and eviction letter or
You have received a utility turn-off notice (disconnect or final notice) or
You have a crisis to move and need to make a security deposit. This assumes you have received an offer to rent (letter of approval from new landlord including move-in date, monthly rent, deposit amount). The unit must pass inspection (copies of the approval letter may be obtained from the inspection office.)

WHEN APPLYING FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING.
SUBMITTING THESE DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOUR ELIGIBILITY.

Proof of residence (green card or naturalization process).
Birth certificates for all members of the household.
Social security cards for all members of the household.
Proof of income for past 30 days (pay stubs and award letters).
Receipts for bills paid in the last 30 days.
Most recent statement and the current balance in all accounts: Checking, Savings, Credit Union, Stocks, etc.
Proof of a workable financial plan after receiving emergency assistance (your average monthly income must be greater than average monthly expenses).
Offer to hire (letter from employer stating rate of pay, number of hours per week, start date).

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE. "Hand to Hand" (operated by the Community Ministry of Montgomery County): Call 301-315-1107, Monday - Thursday, 9 am - 1 pm, for eviction-protection interest-free loans up to $250. Ask for referral forms.
