Program Overview
The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program is a federally mandated program designed to assist families in public housing and HCV programs to achieve self-sufficiency over a 5- to 7-year period and to end dependency on welfare assistance.

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has offices located around the county. Services are regionalized into three main areas: Up-County (Germantown area), Mid-County (Rockville area), and Down-County (Silver Spring area).
First contact with the support is normally provided through the Service Eligibility Unit (SEU) Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm.

These five centers offer services distinct from the HHS and other Resource Centers, above.   Contact them about the services and training they offer, e.g., English language and computer classes, job information, immigration counseling, and resource referral.
